MER August Forum was a success!

Being of Value
Making Museums Meaningful in
the
21st Century

Museum Educators from the DC area gathered for presentations and conversations inspired by the Spring 2010 issue of the Journal of Museum Education – Museum Education and Public Value: New Strategies and Ideas. Attendees strolled through the World Bank art collection after the program.

The first half of the forum  featured presentations from practitioners in the field framed by a keynote speaker.

Keynote:
Helen Wechsler of the IMLS.

Practitioners:
Carol Wilson, Smithsonian American Art Museum
Barbara McCormack, Newseum
Jamee Telford, National Building Museum
Emily Blumenthal, Walters Art Gallery

During the second half of the forum, Tina Nolan, interim editor in chief of the JME, led lively roundtable discussions about how we can put these ideas into practice in our own institutions.
