    Enjoy food, drink, and a lively discussion centering on MER’s
    Journal of Museum Education’s Spring issue, “Beyond Teachers:
    Professional Development Programs in Museums” led by the
    Journal of Museum Education’s co-editor-in-Chief Tina Nolan,
    EdD. Associate Director of Partnerships, National College of
    Education, National-Louis University, Chicago, IL. and Journal
    contributing authors, Leah M Melber, Ph.D. Director of Student
    and Teacher Programs, Lincoln Park Zoo, Chicago, IL and

    Shuttle Service Available:  Buses will be available to take attendees from the George R. Brown
    Convention Center to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston at 5:15 pm and
    return to the Convention Center at 7:15 pm. Shuttle service has limited

    Join colleagues from EdCom, George Washington University Museum Education Program, International Museum Theatre Alliance and Museum Education Roundtable for a fun and inspired evening of dining and mingling at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft.  View artwork in progress from the residency program, check out the stunning and thought-provoking exhibition Lisa Gralnick: The Gold Standard, and explore the craft garden used to grow art materials.  Experience all aspects of this unique institution as we fete this year’s EdCom Award winners and enjoy Texas-style comfort food and a cash bar.  Complimentary transportation will be provided to and from the Convention Center.  Tickets are $35. Be sure to purchase tickets as part of your advance registration. No tickets available on site.
  • EdCom Business and Networking Lunch with Special Guest Lois H. Silverman
    Tuesday May 24th , 12:15-1:45
    It is another chance to reunite with friends, network, and hear updates on EdCom’s plans for the year. This year we are thrilled to have secured Lois H. Silverman as guest speaker for our annual lunch meeting. Many of you will be familiar with Lois’s influential work including her latest book The Social Work of Museums. A museum education and research specialist for more than 25 years, Lois is known by many for her visitor studies and writing about visitor meaning-making. For anyone in the business of advocating for visitors, Lois is an inspiration and a leader. Books will be available for purchase on site for this special event. Also at this year’s lunch, we plan to discuss and share EdCom’s strategic plan. Not only will you hear about the strategic plan process, but will be a chance to participate in a conversation about EdCom and our broad direction. Tickets are $40.
